Components for cosmetic industries are moving towards sustainability.
Different Resins to Make Cosmetic Components
- Glass bottles – some brands use recycled glass for their components. A material that can be continuously recycled.
- Aluminum – unlike plastic, this can be fully recycled.
- Sugarcane-Based PE – Mostly from Sugar cane but still contains plastic
- Resin-Post Consumer Regrind – uses a reclaimed, recycled resin that could be headed to a landfill.
- PFP (Plant Fiber Polymer) – this rescind is 100% from farm waste
- Paper – costly and can’t use in water-based formulas
Refillables
There are many color care companies that offer refillable powder products such as eyeshadows, blush, and pressed powders and lipsticks.
Working towards the Solution
- Reduce
- Reuse
- Recycle
No more single-unit boxes – some companies choose not to use single-unit boxes. We should support those companies who practice this.
